Our recent seminar in Edinburgh proved a resounding success, with over 50 attendees from a cross-section of organisations in financial services, not-for-profit and public sectors.

APS teamed up with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) for a speaker-based event entitled: ‘Shades of e-publishing’. The session used ‘Shades of Grey’ as its theme, since that was the biggest publishing story of 2012, and illustrates perfectly the idea that all kinds of options are possible in e-publishing – from a simple e-newsletter right through to a fully CMS-managed website.

Fiona McParland, digital publishing manager at APS Group Scotland, delivered an informative and engaging talk on building customer relationships using digital delivery. Fiona has been at the forefront of promoting APS’s e-publishing offering. She spoke with great insight and reflected how the support of Scottish Government has allowed a head of steam to build within Official Publishing in Scotland.

During her session, she emphasised the fact that every marketer, in every organisation, in every sector can, and should, get involved in the e-publishing evolution. Publishing is simply about disseminating information and can be done in a whole host of ways.

The event was such a success that Fiona has now been invited by the CIM to deliver a further three sessions in Inverness on April 17, Glasgow on May 8 and Dundee on May 22.

To attend any of these sessions, please contact mike.lynch@theapsgroup.com or call +44 (0) 7720 972911.

APS Group Expands Pan-European Presence – appoints Guillaume Feuillette as European Development Director
14th February 2013 – Marketing services provider, APS Group, has appointed Guillaume Feuillette as European Development Director as part of on-going plans to expand its European operations. Working alongside business development teams in the UK and Netherlands, Guillaume will be responsible for developing APS Group’s pan-European client base, setting up operations to provide customers with the best possible responsive local service which will strengthen APS’ existing European infrastructure. Based in Paris and Eindhoven, Guillaume will report into John Holmes, executive director at APS Group. The Group now employs nearly 40 people across mainland Europe.

Guillaume brings significant expertise in marketing, print management and European development. His most recent role was as Managing Director for European operations at HH Global where he organised their operations and helped to develop the company’s European client base and build new revenue streams. Prior to that he set up and managed the French operation for Communisis.

‘‘There is a real desire at APS Group to grow the business in Europe and I believe the company has both the management team and financial backing to succeed,’’ commented Guillaume. ‘‘The company’s marketing operations suite is the best I’ve seen and can deliver proven, significant value to European brands.”

John Holmes, Executive Director at APS Group said ‘‘There are some hugely exciting developments in the pipeline for APS Group this year and I’m thrilled that Guillaume will be playing such a key role in our pan-European development. He has a proven track record in growing subsidiaries, establishing new customer relationships and developing revenue streams and I’m confident that he will prove an invaluable addition to the European team.’’

Marketing solutions provider, APS Group has won a three-year, multi-million pound print management contract with animal welfare charity the RSPCA. As part of the deal, APS Group will manage and produce all print materials for the RSPCA, including direct mail, promotional leaflets, banners and posters that are used to fundraise and raise awareness of the organisation’s on-going cause.

APS Group will also have a small team of direct mail specialists permanently based on-site at the RSPCA’s southern support centre in Southwater, Horsham.

The RSPCA carries out many fundraising mail-outs throughout the year. Previously, the RSPCA had relied on its in-house print room but took the decision to find a new print partner that could offer improved efficiencies as well as increased levels of consultancy on up-to-date direct mail and print techniques. APS Group was selected following a highly competitive tendering process with over 10 other print suppliers initially in the running.

Simon Taylor, Client Services Director at APS commented: “…This is a great opportunity for APS Group to secure its credentials in the charity sector. We understand how acutely important it is for charities to be as financially efficient as possible. As well as guaranteeing quality across its print output we want the RSPCA to feel confident that we are providing value in everything we do, to ensure that more of the charity’s funds can be used to help its fundamental cause…”

Alethea Lavington, responsible for strategic sourcing for marketing and campaigns at the RSPCA, said: “…We were impressed with APS Group’s ability to deliver a quality service with maximum value and efficiency, all of which were vital elements in our selection process. Fundamentally however, the team at APS Group was a great cultural fit for us both ethically and personally and demonstrated a real understanding of our goals as a charity…”

APS Group has completed its first dry food direct mail campaign on behalf of Kellogg’s. The campaign included the storage, packaging and distribution of Kellogg’s products directly from APS Group’s national distribution centre in Greater Manchester. Designed to promote Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain cereal bars and the re-launch of its Pop-Tarts range, the campaign signifies a first for APS Group in food storage.

APS Group has previously worked with Kellogg’s to produce traditional print promotional material, including in-store vouchers, shelf-edging and bunting. As part of the tendering process for this campaign, however, APS Group also had to demonstrate compliance with Kellogg’s stringent health and safety regulations, as well as providing full traceability on storage and stock rotation policies. APS Group built the packaging for the products as well as storing them prior to distribution to food retail and procurement managers in the UK.

Due to the nature of the contents, APS Group had to pay close consideration to the types of materials and inks it used in the packaging, as it was imperative that nothing tainted the product. The company produced a ‘back to school’ pack to tie in with the timing of the campaign which was printed on acid-free cardboard and is completely sustainable.

Ann McLaughlin, Business Services Director at APS Group commented, ‘This was a great opportunity to demonstrate our ability to store and package food stuffs on site. We were also delighted to be involved in the campaign from start to finish, from working with Kellogg’s design team to building the packaging, storing and mailing out the product.’’

Damian Collins, Press Production Manager at Kellogg’s added: ‘‘Kellogg’s has enjoyed a strong relationship with APS Group in the past and we were very impressed by the readiness with which the team reacted to the new challenges that came with this campaign.”
